1968
Apr 1    Florence Darting, Juanita Norton, and Betty Pierce met at 
         Florence's home on Newland Road to establish a genealogical 
         society.  Groundwork laid for a quarterly publication - 
         Genealogical Goldmine.  Letters sent to prospective members the 
         following week.  
Apr 2    Genealogical workshop held at Florence's home and attended by 
         Betty Pierce,  Juanita Norton,  Winifred Noonan,  Pauline Parsons, 
         Darwin  Wilcox,  June  Hancock,  Virginia  Brooks,  James  Busick, 
         William Childerhouse and Florence Darting.  
Apr 17   Society organizational meeting held at the LDS Church on Buschman 
         Road.  Those present:  Lynn Lowrie, Marian Becker,  Lorraine Hubb, 
         James Busick,  William Childerhouse, Juanita Norton, Betty Pierce, 
         Florence Darting,  Ruth Rice,  June Hancock,  Sarah  Bush,  Alonzo 
         Plumb.  Meeting conducted by Betty Pierce.  Annual membership dues 
         established at $3.  
May 15   First general meeting held at the World Book Reading Room, 583 
         Pearson Road (courtesy Fred Butterbaugh). Fifteen members present, 
         purpose  was  to  elect officers and outline quarterly publication 
         plans. Budget of $25 was established for the year.  
Jun      Forty copies of the first issue of Genealogical  Goldmine  printed
         (45 pages) and distributed.  
Jul      Committee  formed to meet with and to establish a working 
         relationship with the Butte County Historical Society.  
Aug      Bylaws and constitution adopted.
Dec      Exchange of periodical publications begun.

Mar 31   Society ends first year with 60 Charter Members.
Jul 16   Last general meeting held at World Book Reading Room.
Sep 10   First general meeting held at the Justice Court Building, 747 
         Elliot Road. Second Wednesday of the month meeting date 
         established.  

1970
Winter   Member Surname File established.
May 13   Last general meeting held at the Justice Court Building.
Jun 17   First general meeting held at the Paradise Convalescent Hospital 
         (Community Conference Room), 7419 Skyway.  

1971
Summer   Annual membership dues raised to $4.

1972
Jan      Constitution and bylaws amended
Fall     Betty Crocker Coupons collected by members to use for purchase of 
         books for society. Discontinued December 1974 after purchasing 4 
         books.  

1974
Summer   Annual membership dues raised to $5.

1975
Spring   New surname file created.

1976
Jan      Compilation of member's pedigree charts and a card index system of 
         family names begun as a special centennial project.  
Oct      Constitution and bylaws amended.

1977
Mar 19   Copy of PGS history deposited in a time capsule at the "Triangle" 
         at Elliot and Skyway commemorating the one-hundredth anniversary 
         of the Paradise Post Office.  
Jun 8    Last general meeting held at the Paradise Convalescent Hospital.
Sep 14   First general meeting held at Allstate Savings and Loan 
         Association (Pine Room) -6930 Skyway. [Allstate became Sears 
         Saving Bank, then American Savings and Loan at the same location.] 
         Workshops continued at this location until March 1988.  

1978
Apr 2    PGS 10th anniversary all-day celebration held at the Paradise 
         Recreation Center.  

1979
Apr      Annual membership dues raised to $6.50.
Apr 3    An American flag presented to Allstate Savings in appreciation of 
         the use of their facilities.  

1980
Oct 8    Plaque presented to Allstate Savings commemorating the April 3, 
         1979 presentation of an American flag to them.  
Nov      Bylaws amended.

1981
Apr      Annual membership dues raised to $8.

1982
May      First issue of newsletter, Nuggets from Paradise printed; Marilyn 
         Fairchild, editor.  
Jun      Post office box address changed from 335 to 460.
Jun      Bylaws amended.
Sep      First offering of Family memberships at $12 annually.

1983
Jan 14   Federal Income Tax Exemption Non-profit Status obtained.
Mar 1    Non-profit Status postal permit for bulk mailing obtained.
Aug 10   Last general meeting held at Allstate Savings & Loan.
Sep 1    Society library housed in Supervisor Len Fulton's office, 747 
         Elliot Road.  
Sep 14   First general meeting held at I.O.O.F. (Odd Fellows) Hall, 1010 
         Elliot Road. [First paid rental meeting site.] 

1984
Apr      Annual membership dues raised to $10 Individual, $15 Family.
Jun      Bylaws revised.
1984/85  Procedure Manual/Standing Rules drafted, approved, printed and 
         distributed.  

1985
Jan      Building fund (to house library holdings) initiated.
May      Goldstrike Surname Index printed and offered for sale.

1987
Jan      Rose Chapel Mortuary & Crematory (Mrs. Virginia Cosgrove) commence 
         gratis printing of Nuggets from Paradise newsletter.  

1988
Mar 24   Last workshop held at American Savings and Loan.
Apr      Annual membership dues raised to $12 Individual, no change for Family.
Apr 11,  Twentieth anniversary celebrations held at PGS Library, 747 Elliot 
 13 & 14 Road.  
Apr 28   First workshop held at Butte County Library, 5922 Clark Road.
Mar 21   Certificate of Appreciation received from California State 
         Genealogical Alliance (CSGA) for participation in the Record 
         Inventory Microfilm (RIM) Project.  
Oct 27   Last workshop held at Butte County Library. 

1989
Mar      Publication of Genealogical Goldmine temporarily suspended.
Jun      Amended bylaws approved
Jun 1    Membership reaches 100.
Sep      Bi-annual publication of Genealogical Goldmine initiated.
Dec      PGS Library closes at 747 Elliot Road.

1990
Feb 5    PGS Library opens at 174 Pearson Road; seventeen hours, 4 days a 
         week.  
Mar 18   Library grand opening celebrations held.

Summer   Genealogical Goldmine microfilmed by LDS Genealogical Library, 
         Salt Lake City [22 volumes - thru Spring 1990].  
Aug      Recycling (aluminum/glass) project initiated.
Sep 22   First meeting of Computer Interest Group held at PGS Library.
Oct 20   First Annual Ancestor Day held at PGS Library, 174 Pearson Road.
Nov      Telephone installed in PGS Library.

Jan 11   State of California Income Tax Exemption obtained.
Jan 22   Articles of Incorporation approved (State of California).
Feb 5    Bylaws revision approved.

          Goldminer, $60 Sustaining.  
Jan 1     Change from fiscal year (Apr 1 - Mar 31) to calendar year (Jan 1 
          - Dec 31).  
Spring    Microfilming of Florence Styles Collection and member's records 
          by Genealogical Society of Utah completed.  
May       Chico Cemetery, Gridley-Biggs Cemetery, Newspaper Vitals and  
          Probate Abstractspublished and offered for sale.  
Oct       Old Oroville Cemetery published and offered for sale.
Oct 14    Second Annual Spaghetti Feed held at Paradise Ridge Senior Center.
Oct 17    Third Annual Ancestor Day held at Paradise Ridge Senior Center.
Nov       California State Genealogical Alliance (CSGA) 1890 Great Register 
          Project Butte County portion completed.  
Nov 4     Budget of $16,441 for 1993 approved.

Apr       Delayed Birth Register published and offered for sale.
Apr       Society ends 25th year with 233 members.
Aug       Amended bylaws approved.

Oct 23    Twenty-fifth Anniversary Celebration & Fourth Annual Ancestor Day 
          held at PGS Library, 202 Pearson Rd.

Jan 1     Annual membership dues raised to $20 Individual/Institution, $25 
          Family; $35 Goldminer, $65 Sustaining, $300 Life. Student (under 
          20 yrs) $15, initiated.  
Jan       PGS Library open times extended to 23 hours a week (4 days). 
June      Member's Resource File initiated.

Feb       PGS web page constructed.
Mar       Participated in PBS Channel 9 KIXE [Redding] fund drive by 
          manning telephone bank during "Ancestors" presentation.  
May       Building Purchase Pledge Drive organized.
Jun       Offer to purchase Paradise Chamber of Commerce building at 5587 
          Scottwood approved by membership.  
Jul       Escrow opened and closed. 
Aug       New quarters remodeled and move completed.
Sep 3     Library reopened.
Sep       Personal loan of $7500 repaid from building account. PGS owns 
          library free and clear!  
Sep       Participated in Chico Mall Faire.
Oct       New copier purchased.
Dec       Bylaw amendment approved by membership to add 3rd vice-president 
          and four directors to the PGS Executive Board.  
Dec       Third Annual PGS Library Christmas Party held at 5587 Scottwood 
          Road.  

1998

          for sale.  
Feb       Spiral binding machine purchased.
